Wow, I can't believe Matilda actually snapped! Well actually I wasn't surprised she did after what happened, but I was mostly surprised something happened that was so cruel that it caused her to snap... I didn't think it was possible! She's got to be my favorite character right now, mostly because of her creepy stepford-wife attitude. Haha, I suppose it could be because of the unusual circumstances she was born in, what with her entire family under one roof, it could make her a little crazy. I'd sure be crazy if I lived with my grandpa, aunt and uncle and cousin, even if our house was huge!

Hey klondike! Welcome to the forum.
Yes, I have to agree that Matilda is quickly becoming my favourite character. There are certain aspects of her personality and life that are based on my own, so I'm starting to become extremely attached to her.
I think this event will really shape her as a person and have a huge impact on how she continues the family line. Of course, there will most likely be a struggle within her to carry on the line, because her only experience with sex was so traumatizing and violent.
I'm working on the next chapter now, but it's a bit of a struggle. I want to really get across how the rape affected her, but I want to focus on how it affected all the other members of the family, too.

I'm working on the next chapter now, but it's a bit of a struggle. I want to really get across how the rape affected her, but I want to focus on how it affected all the other members of the family, too. I think you accomplished this in the last chapter. Rape is an ugly thing, and it affects everyone who is close to the victim.

Yes, it most certainly does. I was hesitant to even address this heavy topic at all in my story, but decided that it was something that needed to happen to Matilda (story-wise, NEVER personal-wise) in order to shape her as a person.
In the end, I'm glad I did write about it. I've received lots of positive feedback from readers who say they're glad my legacy pushes boundaries, takes risks and addresses controversial issues.
It was really encouraging, especially since I started doubting myself quickly after posting that chapter.

I'm not going to lie, the first time I read that chapter I was a bit... hmm, not sure of the word. Taken aback? I think that's it. It was probably because it was so out of the blue. But I slept on it, read it again the next day and realised what a brilliant chapter it was - it wasn't blase about it, it wasn't done lightly, it was dealt with seriously and in a really mature manner, far better than the way the majority of things like soap operas handle rape storylines. It was really well written as well, although thats a given looking at the rest of the legacy.
To be honest its nice to come across a legacy that isn't all hearts and flowers (*holds guilty hand up (for the first couple of gens anyway)*), at the end of the day the blogs are basically stories and it'd be well dull if everyone was happy and self-actualised all of the time.

Thanks Sian!
I wanted to treat it respectfully. It's something I'm very sensitive about and it was emotionally hard for me to write. I wanted to make sure that it was dealt with in a serious and mature way and that it wasn't disrespectful to victims of sexual abuse.

How is Matilda like you? I mean I don't think (from what you write) that you are that close in resemblance. I think you might act a lot more mature then Matilda but I could be wrong. Matilda isn't bad, I like her. She has a personality and like Rian said, you need to throw bad things in. It isn't fun when there is all OMG I'm married YAY and OMG I had a kid YAY and OMG my kid is a potty trained toddler that can talk and walk and then in school it has straight a's and then you have another kid and it follows the exact same footsteps as the first. Well then the only different thing about each sim would be looks! I like how you really emphasize the traits of your sims, I write and it sounds like they have different traits. I sometimes make my laid back sim act over emotional here and there and then it seems like one of their traits are over emotional because i use that trait more and more in my sim when they are not over emotional! You are a brilliant writer.

I think Matilda and I are alike in the sense that we're both very reserved and don't show emotion very often. We both keep ourselves very closed off from other people and have a difficult time placing trust in others. It was more prominent when she was a teenager. She's opened up more since she's married Thaddeus and had Margaret, but she's still usually very composed and detached from everything that's going on around her.

That makes sense. Ok I think I'm caught up to everything now. BTW can't wait to see Margaret's baby! Margaret's heiress (whether it's this one or another one) what do you have in names for future generations? When I had the boys in my legacy I had made it so that whole generation would have V names and I had to go online to find the names for them.

Well all of the women born within the bloodline of the Charm family have names that start with M, in honour of Marylee and to keep her memory alive in the family. The men don't follow any particular naming pattern. Men aren't very important in my legacy since it's a matriarchy. They're just there as sperm donors, and everyone in the family is disappointed when a boy is born, because they can't inherit anything. The women in my legacy are very much in charge and have control over every aspect of the household. So far, there's been Marylee, Marcie, Mandy, Matilda, Mischa, Marina, Melinda and Margaret. I have to admit that I'm starting to run out of names that I like for the girls, too, but that's what Google is for, heh heh.

Well you'll have to start using any M name you can think of. Let me think...girls in my school are named Mary, Molly, Meagan, Michaela, hmmm...well you already used Mandy and Margaret so I don't know now...but yeah that's what Google is for! Can't wait to see what you named the baby! I really hope it's a girl!
