Now, I'm not a blogger, but I do love the sims.. I just play, and read stories written by people who have the time and the talent to write.
When I gave up on my apocalypse challenge, I didn't feel like playing my legacy, but I do enjoy some structure in my simming, so I decided to play a new legacy-like family.
My restriction is that my sims aren't allowed to have jobs. My founder bought a mid-range lot, and a laptop. She still had enough money to build a small house (read four walls an a bed), and a writing and athletic class. Despite the fact she was a couch potato I made her jog to to Riverview gym to shower and 'pick up'.
My founder (and eventually her husband) had the 'professional author' LTW. So she had to write to survive. She gradually built her house (much like a normal legacy challenge, just with less funds) and had two babies, with the mailman of course (who I moved in and made an author too)
In Gen 2, The first child got the 'Emperor of evil' LTW so I married him off and kicked him out before he went to work for the first day - Indie stone then got him fired from his job, and he now seems to be doing well in the music career. Child two was born with 'loves the outdoors' so I decided to make her a farmer. She married her childhood sweetheart (who wanted to be an astronaut, but loved the outdoors) so as soon as I could, I changed his LTW to perfect garden. They both achieved their LTW and maxed their gardening skill. They have a huge garden (it takes both of them most of the day to harvest everything, and they are hungry and stinky by the time they are done). In their down time, she goes fishing with her son, and he works out.
I'm now playing gen 3, The boy likes to fish! He is only a teen now, but I intend him to get his perfect aquarium, and live off the fish he catches - and maybe keep some of the garden once the parents pass on.
I'm not sure how much further this can go, I think the next generation will be painters.. but there isn't really any other ways to make money other than working, maybe collecting? I have really enjoyed playing these sims, so thought I would share the concept with the community here, in case anyone is looking for a short-ish challenge that is a bit of fun (it's nice not having to chase promotions)
So far each generation and their spouse have had the same LTW (Gen 1 was a coincidence, Gen 2 was by design, since I didn't want him to get a job)
I don't use cheats, and the only mod I use is indie stone - without awesome, so I don't have the latest patch. I followed most of the normal legacy rules, except I chose some traits (like love the outdoors, green thumb, angler).
There was enough money to go around, but it was certainly less profitable than my legacy sims (who can make mansions by Gen 3). Getting funds at the beginning was pretty slow - I should have sent my founder to the library to write, but was too lazy (and I think she might have been a loner)
Anyway, that's my challenge, have fun with it.
