Hey Ashleigh! I have been reading your three challenges since the beginning (pretty much) and I have been loving them! I also have been reading Tiari's Silvermoon legacy and you may or may not have seen me post there a couple of times but anyway, I just wanted you to know that you and Tiari inspired me to create my own legacy family!. Although I am not blogging about this one, I am thinking about creating a new one and blogging about it. In the event that that does happen, I want you to be one of the first to read it and critique it! I'm looking forward to the next installment of the Charm legacy and you can be sure to be seeing me post on it! BTW, this forum seems to be lacking in males. I wonder why?!

Welcome to the forum! Haha, yeah I noticed it seemed to be all women here. Maybe my stories just aren't as popular with men? I know I write my legacy based on women with women in charge of everything, so maybe it appeals to women because of that? Anyway, glad to have you here and hopefully we can get some more guys in the forum. I'd love to read your legacy blog if you start one. Most of the legacies I've been following have been abandoned by their authors, so I'm on the hunt for new ones. I'm liking The Emmett Legacy and The Upshaw Legacy a lot. They're on my Legacy Links page.

Well the legacy that I am currently playing is a matriarchy so I enjoy reading yours but the one I will (hopefully) blog about will probably have heirs of both genders, that way I don't need to buy tons of apples/watermelons or hope that my luck doesn't run out. One of the biggest reasons why I chose not to blog about my current legacy was because I wanted to get the feel of the challenge. This is my first The Sims game and therefore my first legacy challenge. Once I get to about the fourth or fifth generation, I'll create a new one to blog about.
Off topic. You use Indie Stone right? I have recently installed Awesome mod and the Indie Stone mod (not the core) and so I may have a few questions (about Indie Stone) that you might be able to answer if I don't find them anywhere else.

Yes, I have Indie Stone v. 0.5a with the 1.2 patch for the game. I didn't install the other ones specifically so that I could continue to use Indie Stone. I can't live without it. Also, a lot of people's games were wiped out when they installed patches 1.3 and 1.4 so I veered far away from them.
A note of warning: If you have AwesomeMod with patches 1.3 or 1.4, it will cause problems with your game (random crashes, corrupt backup files so you can't get your save files back, graphical issues). AwesomeMod wasn't meant to be compatible with those patches. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT ENABLE LARGER HOUSEHOLDS WITH AWESOMEMOD! You will experience these problems and more and my friend, Tiari has had to restart in a new neighbourhood three times because of it.
AwesomeMod should work okay if you only have the 1.2 patch. Indie Stone won't work at all with anything except the 1.2 patch.

Okay thanks. However I have been playing with awesomemod and the indie stone mod (not the core) with the latest patch (1.4 is it) and I have had NO problems for about a week's playing time. I even have had larger households enabled (though I don't really need it yet, I only have 6 people in my house so far) and there have been no crashes, corrupt save files, or any bad stuff. I have been reading Tiari's blog (both Sims and her personal blog) regularly and have been aware of her many problems with the game. Because of this, I have created a copy folder of all my saves and update them every few saves or so. Reading this, what do you think? Will my backup saves folder work if my main save becomes corrupt, or will I be completely screwed?
P.S. I don't play much because I have roughly 3 hours of free time at home and I use that time to do my homework because school and band (school 7:30-2:30, band from 3:00-5:30ish). I don't know if playing for about 5 hours on the weekend for a total of 5 hours per week does anything (like little "pressure" on the game and mods, if that makes sense). Does it? I doubt it but when you think like a scientist, it could be anything.

Well, just make sure your save files are in a different folder. I'd still be nervous, because apparently, Tiari had backups of all her files and the mods corrupted those, too.

Okay, I keep them on my desktop but I'll ask Tiari where she kept them. If the were in a different folder, then oh crap. I'm going to have to mess with my game. If they were in the same folder, then I'm okay, for now. Well, I have 3 days to think about it and get feedback from others! And yeah, I am nervous!

To comment on the combo of Awesomemod and Indie Stone (not the core), I use both and have all of the patches. A lot of Ashleigh's warnings are very valid. Bigger families and larger neighborhoods do tend to have saving errors because they are huge. I don't notice lag or graphic errors in my game. I do, however, like the functionality I get from Awesome and Indie together. I wouldn't use Awesome on it's own. I would go plain Vanilla game if Indie stops being compatible.
To combat the saving problems, I save every game morning when my Sims start waking up. That way, if I do end up with a save error, I only lose a little bit. It's not ideal, but it works for me.
