I thought this forum might be the best place to post this query since The Charm Legacy has a lot of drama and plot to it.
In my legacy, I've just been going about the story of the family. In Generation 3, I had an evil, insane heir. With her, I went sort of all out and there was a lot of drama and fun to it. In contrast, the Gen. 4 heir is sort of bland.
Should I add drama? Or should I just keep it a chronicle of what's happening in the family?
I'm torn.

Well, personally, I think drama is always good to have. It keeps readers hooked and coming back to read more, but on that same note, you have to be careful not to overdo it. If every single chapter just has dramatic plot lines that just keep getting more and more ridiculous, readers might start saying "Oh, come on! Quit with the drama already!" which you definitely don't want. What I like to do is when I have a lot of plot and drama I want to introduce in the story, I'll sometimes split one chapter into two or more, so that it feels a little more spread out and isn't a huge tidal wave of drama. As much as I like drama, I want to still keep things somewhat believable. There's been plenty of dramatic plots that I decided to cut out of my Legacy, simply because it was too far-fetched or just too much. So my advice would be to include some drama, but keep it somewhat realistic and space it out a bit so it doesn't become overwhelming and just plain ridiculous. I hope that helps.

I think that believable drama is good, but when it starts getting daft... yeah, then its a no. Especially if its being written, the reader has to identify somehow with at least one of the characters in my opinion, ridiculous drama means that can't happen. Or so I think. Did that just make sense?

I _loved_ the Deanna storyline, especially the way Jayne took over the narration, and I also loved the way you used both Deanna and Megan's 'Emperor of evil' LTW to play off each other.
That whole generation was my favourite in your legacy.. But then it's nice to have the family stabilise a bit with a 'boring' generation too, you really did go all out.
I'm a fan of drama - in the kind of quantity you would see in real life. The legacies I tend to follow have a healthy serve of drama. When things start to resemble 'Passions' (is that show still around?) well, lets just say I like it to be believable.
Edit - I guess I'm really just echoing what Ashleigh and Sian have said :-)

Ok, so I'm going to do a bit of a spoiler...or a potential spoiler, but I'm questioning myself and I need feedback. Don't read if you don't want things to potentially be spoiled.
One of the things I was playing around with was having Stacia and Emanuel have an affair. Duncan is close to his LTW of becoming an astronaut and will be gone a lot. Stacia is a stay-at-home mom since her LTW is gardening related. Sherrie is a work-a-holic who is never home and Emanuel is a writer who works from home. See where I'm going? But the Sims would never do these interactions on their own. I would really have to force the issue.
My other thought is to just keep things simple and calm this generation and go into drama next generation. Toni and Robin both have interesting baby traits. Who knows what they'll get as toddlers and teens. (Toni is an insane light sleeper and Robin is an absent minded genius.)
Also, Stacia and Duncan both have rolled the want to have another child. I haven't done anything about it yet, but a third child might add another layer to the mix.
Anyway, that's what I've been struggling with. I haven't played at all since Jayne died. I switched to the Succubus Legacy 'cause I was so upset by Jayne dying.

/gasp
Duncan knew that Emanuel punk was no good!
There's a lot going on there.. you could get Stacia and Emanuel to best friends and see what happens (I've had sims autonomously flirt with their best friends when I wasn't looking.. it killed one of my heirs marriages...) but maybe one of the sims needs to be flirty for that to happen, and neither Stacia or Emanuel have that trait. That way the game can decide for you if you can't decide.
I guess it depends on whether you think it would be in character for them. The 'crime of opportunity' is a good move.. I read a legacy (can't remember which one right now - I read so many!) where a wife was overwhelmed with the kids and just wanted to get away.. perhaps you could have Stacia break down and want more time with her plants? Emanuel and his dislike of kids could be her refuge... I'm sure you have plenty of good Ideas though.
I shouldn't tell you how to write your legacy.. I have no problem with drama now or drama later.. but they are your sims, and you should take it in the direction you will get the most enjoyment out of - it's your story after all!

No, thanks for the ideas. I asked for input because I'm stuck. I also forgot that Stacia is a Klepto. It hasn't come up in game AT ALL and I've never gotten a wish from her to steal anything, but she did take things from her work while she was still working.
Anyway, I don't know what I'm going to do. I don't want to do anything that's too forced and I don't want to just keep blathering on about how sweet, loving and nice everyone is either.

/I read a legacy (can't remember which one right now - I read so many!) where a wife was overwhelmed with the kids and just wanted to get away.. Oooh, that might have been mine. I struggle with this one too - I like drama for blog purposes but I also like points scoring! So I try and get a balance but sometimes I think I have at times, especially in the early generations, concentrated on drama at the expense of points, but more often I can concentrate on being good and getting the points at the expense of drama. I also have some generations that are more dramatic than the others but I think most legacies seem to, so that's OK! I haven't had a heartbreaker sim yet and I don't know if I'll get one, but I'd like to, I think that would make for very interesting storytelling. My plots tend to go on what the game throws at me and I was very excited when one sim rolled to be Emperor of Evil and another rolled to be one of the police careers, as I was hoping there'd be lots of cool cops and robbers stuff they could do, but the game doesn't seem to have any options along that score - I tried it again with another policey sim when the EoE moved to another lot but still no cool interactions (boo!) although I'll write a bit more plot around that interaction now I don't need points from the EoE sim! It was partly thinking of this that has given me an idea for a new twist on the legacy challenge where both points and drama will be useful... but more on that when I have time to work it out fully.

Oooh, that might have been mine. It sure was Rad! It dropped off my radar, so your legacy is going straight into Google Reader so I don't lose it again! I'll have to catch up with it later, I'm at work now.. for some reason that storyline really hit me - I don't know why - maybe because I had read a few legacies with lots of kids, and was managing a full legacy house of my own. I was so angry at Stacey, but then I could see where she was coming from. I look forward to reading more of Kyoti legacy at lunch time

I can't handle full Legacy Houses. Not only can I not focus enough on one Sim to achieve their LTW, but my computer lags so badly that it takes literally hours to get through a couple Sim-days and it's just not fun at all to play.
I was originally going to try my best to keep everyone in the house as much as possible, but now I'm just so fed up with unreached LTWs and laggy game play that I'm kicking out anyone who isn't an heiress or a spouse/underage child of an heiress.

I'm having this problem as well. I run the awesome mod and the Indie Stone core, but I'm thinking I'm going to have to give one or both up...which will suck for keeping track of extended family. But in any case, I too am getting pretty laggy with a full house (I think CC and a large lot have something to do with it as well!) BTW, I've decided to just keep things calm this gen. Game events have made a few interesting plot blips, but I'm thinking Gen. 5 will be another drama-packed chapter. I'm planning on updating tonight or tomorrow.

Oh be sure to tweet it when you do. I love your legacy. I also love your Succubus legacy. I love it so much, I'm thinking about starting a creature legacy after my current one.

I love the succubus legacy too. I was playing it last night and should have an update in a few days. I like to do about 50-90 slides to keep it at about three posts per generation.

I had this problem after the last patch. Too many sims on the lot. I've heard that if you delete the misc stuff in the house it helps. My legacy household is around 4-5; it was the large amounts of ghosts that lagged me. Maybe you could move some of yours to the graveyard or inventory. It might help you out. I commend you for keeping up with a full household as long as you did. It drove me insane having eight people in my legacy house.

I could get rid of the ghosts, but I really like having the graveyard there. Besides, they only come out at night and everyone's sleeping at night, so it's not as much of a bother if it lags.
SPOILER ALERT
DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING IF YOU WANT TO BE SURPRISED IN THE NEXT CHAPTER!

It's just Matilda, Thaddeus, Margaret, and Juliana in the house now. I had Parker move out with Katie, Marina and Melinda, and now it runs much nicer. Still a bit of lag here and there, but nothing that makes the game unplayable or frustrating, so I don't mind. I think four or less is the best number of Sims to have in a single household if it's a large lot with lots of stuff on it. For smaller lots, I can usually have six or seven Sims with almost no lag and eight Sims with minimal lag.
