This is a thread to say goodbye to Margaret Magnolia Charm, who was taken from us far too soon at the young age of forty-six.
Margaret was born to parents Matilda and Thaddeus Charm and grew up in Charm Manor with her parents and older half-sister, Juliana Frio née Corcoran.
She enjoyed a privileged upbringing, but struggled in school from a young age and as a result, was homeschooled until the age of fourteen, when her parents enrolled her in a private school, the local Academy of Science, hoping that the other young intellectuals there would have a good influence on her.
Margaret was introduced to drugs and violent gang activity by her cousin, Marina Magnolia Charm during her teenage years, and her life quickly fell into a downward spiral. She became addicted to heavy drugs and alcohol abuse, stopped attending her classes and became sexually active with various boys she hardly knew.
When her family confronted her about her behaviour, Margaret ran away from home. She was missing for a year before the police department declared the only heiress to the Charm Estate dead and ended their search for her.
During her long year on the run from her family and the police, Margaret resorted to selling her body as a petty prostitute as a way to feed her demanding drug habit and keep a shelter over her head.
After a year of running, Margaret became homesick and decided to return to Sunset Valley. It was there that she located one of her old flames, VJ Alvi and his younger brother, Miraj. Margaret stayed with VJ for a week but became violently ill. Miraj suspected that his brother's casual fling was pregnant and may have an STD.
When VJ discovered this, he viciously beat Margaret, nearly killing her. Margaret fled in fear to her older sister's home where she was living with her husband and infant daughter. It was there that her family discovered that Margaret was still alive and she was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Margaret was informed that she was indeed pregnant and that she had contracted gonorrhea while prostituting herself. It was then that Margaret decided to clean up her life for the sake of her baby and she went through a grueling detox and rehabilitation process.
Margaret gave birth to a baby girl, Morgan Magnolia Charm, at the age of fifteen and the birth of her daughter inspired her to be a better person. Margaret made an astonishing turnaround that shocked the world. She continued to stay clean and sober, went back to school and graduated with a B average, despite her learning disability she struggled with her entire life, and became a doting and loving mother.
Margaret was devastated when she found out her drug and alcohol abuse in the early weeks of her pregnancy had caused Morgan to be deaf, and harboured an immense amount of guilt over it the rest of her life.
It wasn't until Morgan started elementary school that Margaret began dating again. She met a young man named Shannon which didn't last very long before becoming infatuated with Miraj Alvi, the younger brother of VJ Alvi. Miraj was in medical school and showed no signs of becoming like his older brother. He had been dating Marina Charm until he realized she wasn't going to change her delinquent ways like Margaret had and left her. He and Margaret quickly bonded and they began a sexual relationship that resulted in another accidental pregnancy.
Unlike VJ, Miraj was delighted about this pregnancy and after Margaret gave birth to her second child, William Christopher Charm, he asked her to marry him. Not long after, Miraj Alvi became Miraj Charm.
The couple shared a happy relationship and raised Morgan and William together as a family, until a misunderstanding led Matilda to accuse her son-in-law of being unfaithful to his wife. With the media pressure about the so-called affair and the conflict in the home, it threatened to end Margaret and Miraj's marriage. The stress only intensified when the family discovered that Morgan was in a relationship with her childhood friend, Savannah Piper, and both girls came out as being lesbians. In a desperate attempt to keep her family together, Margaret asked her parents to leave Charm Manor, choosing to focus solely on her relationship with her husband and offering support to her daughter, who was struggling with her sexuality.
Soon after, Matilda fell ill with pneumonia and passed away, leaving a hole in the hearts of the family, but there was no time to grieve, as Margaret found out not long after that she was expecting her third child at forty-six years old with a history of reproductive problems in her family.
After a rocky pregnancy, Margaret Charm died in child birth, hanging on just long enough to name her newborn son, Johnathon Christopher Charm.
This devastating turn of events leaves Margaret's only daughter, Morgan, as the sole heiress of the Charm Estate at the age of eighteen.
Farewell, Margaret. You led an extraordinary life that will never be forgotten. May your children and your children's children be as exceptional as you were.
